house-recon

Point it at a house.
Get the story the listing doesn't tell.

Free, open-source due diligence for home buyers: a dated history timeline, automated red flags, and an offer ladder anchored to your zip's real market data. This page runs the full analysis in your browser β€” nothing you paste ever leaves your machine.

How it works

Listing sites block robots β€” but they don't block you. You open the pages in your own browser like any shopper; this page turns their text into analysis. No API keys, no accounts, no scraping servers.

  1. Install the 1-click extension (Chrome or Edge, free) β€” it fetches every page for you, inside your own browser. Prefer not to? A manual copy-paste mode always works.
  2. Type the address. We normalize it against the U.S. Census Bureau geocoder β€” and in supported counties, the county auditor record (owner, transfers, values, taxes) fetches itself.
  3. Read the report. Timeline, price-cut history, failed pendings, flip detection, red flags, county record, seller-motivation score, and a 4-rung offer ladder with estimated acceptance odds β€” rendered here, downloadable as Markdown.

County auditor records (owner, transfers, values, an Ohio tax projection) appear right here for supported counties. Want photos, satellite captures, and the optional AI judgment layer too? That's the command-line pipeline β€” same engine, full dossier.

The house-recon extension fetches the listing, market, and sold-comps pages for you β€” one click, inside your own browser. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Already installed? Reload this page. Firefox support is planned.

Just exploring?

No extension? Manual mode β€” bring the pages in yourself

For each box: click Open β†—, press Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C on the page, and come back β€” the box fills itself. Faster: drag 🏠 Grab page onto your bookmarks bar once, then just click it on each page.

Why copying? Trouble?

Browsers forbid this page from downloading other websites, and listing sites block bot servers β€” but not you, a normal visitor, so the pages come in through your browser. The whole page highlighting blue on Ctrl+A is normal. If a box doesn't fill itself when you return, your browser may have declined clipboard access β€” click the πŸ“‹ button or just press Ctrl+V in the box. If your bookmarks bar is hidden, Ctrl+Shift+B shows it.
